Many times, we focus on the counterfeits that are thrown our way; the things that are not of God and the trouble they cause in our lives. But did you know that you can also be a counterfeit? I bet that just shocked someone. There is a version of you required to access and maintain the promises of God.
Counterfeit (n): made in imitation of something else; made to look like the original
There is this popular phrase – ‘what is for you is for you’. And that’s true. But there is an emphasis on you becoming the version of you that is required to access it. This may all sound confusing so imagine, for a second, there is a security guard standing in front of the place you need to enter. The security guard asks for your ID to check that you have reached the age requirement. If given a fake ID or your ID shows you do not reach the age requirement, you are rejected from entering. If given your real ID and you meet the requirements, you are allowed to enter. It shows you have matured and are equipped to step into the new place.
Authenticity requires vulnerability, transparency and integrity; it is knowing who you truly are in God and being brave enough to live it
Similarly, God gives good gifts but wants to make sure that we can manage His promises as more blessings comes with more responsibility. We must first become what we are asking for. Become what you need or ask for. Need gifts? Become a giver. Need a promotion? Be a server. We are to allow patience to do its perfect work (James 1:4) that we will be equipped to access and manage the promises of God.
It's all about us becoming all that we were called to be. It’s all about being the authentic version of you.
